It ends with us is a movie that is adapted from the Colleen Hoovers phenomenal novel, starring
Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. This story is about Lily Bloom, a woman who overcomes her
traumatic childhood and her relationship with her recent lover Ryle Kinciad which leads to a sea
of domestic abuse and mental downhill where she learns she must rely on her own strength to
make her future secure.
This movie focuses on Lily Bloom, a 23 year old young woman and her ‘pre-eminent’ romantic
relationship with Ryle.a 30 year old neurosurgeon. During the time of their relationship, Lily
meets her first love that disappeared years ago due to a heated argument between him and
Lily’s father.
Lily and Ryle’s relationship turns into something toxic when Ryle shows his extreme aggressive
side of him during arguments they had which ends up leading to domestic violence. This
worsens up when Ryle realizes that Lily met her first love, Atlas. His insecurity leads him to push
her down the staircase which leads to sexually assaulting her.
Even Though the novel justifies Ryles’ abusive side, the movie doesn’t as it doesn’t allow
audiences to justify Ryle’s character as it shows a sense of abuse unfolding. In short, this movie
is not exactly a romance movie. It showcases many scenes of domestic violence that’s
unspoken in the real world and how Lily overcomes it which also leaves a message to the world
